SEATTLE-AirTouch Communications Inc. said Seattle police arrested two local residents for possession of stolen property and a third resident on suspicion of cellular fraud during a routine traffic stop.
AirTouch credits the arrests to recent fraud training it provided to law-enforcement officials.
One officer, said AirTouch, noticed two cellular phones in the front seat of the suspects’ vehicle, and determined the phones were cloned after inspecting them. The arrest of the suspects later led to the third suspect’s residence, where cloned phones and other illegal equipment were confiscated, said AirTouch.
“AirTouch has a great track record when it comes to catching cellular thieves, and our partnership with local law enforcement is critical in identifying and shutting down fraudulent operations,” said Joe Dodson, vice president/area general manager for AirTouch in Oregon and Washington.
