MONTVALE, N.J.-Geotek Communications Inc. said it deployed a mobile communications solution to the ready-mix concrete industry, designed specifically to meet the industry’s needs.
Geotek said it installed a system for Florida Rock Industries, with 120 units in one facility.
The company received additional orders for 170 units in another facility, and said Geotek said plans to install more than 600 similar units for other concrete companies.
Geotek specifically targets fleet-based communications needs, it said, with satellite-based vehicle-location and navigation systems and real-time communication.
The mobile communications needs of the ready-mix market, as well as similar needs in related markets-such as concrete block, pipe and asphalt-has led Geotek to identify it as a strategic vertical market, the company said.
