Moffet, Larson & Johnson Inc. announced the integration of Comarco Wireless Technologies’ Network Evaluation System tool NES-250 with the PathPro drive-test post-processing module, PathView. The integration provides the capability to transmit data from the GEN II series to the PathPro, the company said. The K-series features a larger three-line display and side mounted volume/menu control keys with a choice of English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. DeftCom Inc. introduced its new family of Signaling System 7 diagnostic tools, RTmon (real time monitor), designed to monitor SS7 data that is captured and transmitted over Internet Protocol I

RTmon improves problem-resolution time by providing network diagnostics in real time using Transmission Control Protocol/IP. Celeritek Inc. introduced two next-generation “true” 3.0-volt power amplifiers to support dual-band handset requirements. The CMM1530 for personal communications services and CMM0530 for cellular meet the linearity demands of Code Division Multiple Access and Time Division Multiple Access systems over the entire discharge cycle of a lithium-ion battery, allowing users to have longer talk time, said the company. CellPort Labs expanded its universal hands-free system to accommodate Motorola Inc.’s StarTac cellular telephone with today’s introduction of a new pocket adapter. The system’s modular architecture features a universal base unit that is hard-wired into the vehicle as well as adapter pockets designed for individual phone models, which secure the phone and snap onto the base unit. Harris Semiconductor

Harris Semiconductor introduced a new 800 MHz dual-mode Code Division Multiple Access/FM chipset, which performs to the Interim Standard-95A standard, said the company. Components of the chipset include a downconverter with automatic gain control, an upconverter with gain control, quadrature IF demodulator with AGC and quadrature modulator with AGC. Samsung

Samsung Telecommunications America plans to unveil its SCH series of handsets at CTIA Wireless ’98. The SCH-2010 is a Code Division Multiple Access-based personal communications services phone, SCH-1500 is a dual-band, dual-mode handset and the SCH-210, a second-generation CDMA phone.

The SCH-2010 allows users to dial up to 20 locations on voice command and tape a personal message or record a conversation. The SCH-2010 weighs 4.9 ounces and is less than 5 inches long. It offers data capabilities and standard features, including caller ID and short message service with menus in English, Spanish and French. The unit has a five-line display, a removable flip and an optional hands-free car kit. With a standard lithium-ion battery, it provides talk time of up to 2.5 hours and standby time of up to 25 hours. An extended battery will provide up to 4 hours of talk time and 45 hours of standby time, said Samsung.

The SCH-1500 offers voice-dialing, data capabilities and choice of several languages. Standard services offered with the SCH-1500 include voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling and call forwarding. Basic features include one-touch dialing for nine locations, two-touch dialing for 90 locations, phone book memory for 99 locations, vibrator alert and scratchpad memory. Short message service, one-touch voice-mail access and preferred roaming are optional features of the SCH-1500, said Samsung. The phone’s standard lithium-ion battery provides up to three hours digital or 2.2 hours analog talk time, and up to 50 hours digital or 16 hours analog standby time. The unit has a four-line, 10-character-per-line display, plus one line of icons.

The SCH-210 cellular handset weighs 5.6 ounces and measures just more than 5 inches. It has 99 phone-book memory locations, a five-line, three-character display, plus two lines of icons. The SCH-210’s standard lithium-ion battery allows 2.5 hours of talk time and up to 55 hours of standby time for CDMA networks. Mitsubishi Wireless Communications introduced an 7.7-ounce analog phone for the entry-level wireless market. The AH-270 offers three hours talk time and 28 hours standby time with a nickel metal hydride battery. The phone offers automatic personal identification number and authentication functions. World Communication Group Inc.

World Communication Group Inc. released its 100 series of spread spectrum systems. The Wincom T-100 and E-100 are full-duplex, high-speed digital microwave terminals that provide a wireless link for T1 (1.544 megabits per second) and E1 (2.048 mbps) applications. Using spread-spectrum technology, the systems facilitate voice, data and video transmission to a range of 45 miles. Developed for use in the 2.4 GHz industrial, scientific and medical band, they do not require a site license. The Wincom system components include a rack-mountable modem unit containing DSX-1 interface, modulator and power supply. A radio-frequency unit is located outdoors near the antenna, housed in a weatherproof enclosure. A coaxial cable connects the two units, provides power to the RF unit and can be extended to a length of 1,000 feet. A variety of antennas are available to meet specific application requirements in the company’s new ISM/cellular antenna products line. Hewlett-Packard Co. introduced a phase-locked loop synthesizer earlier this month at the 1998 Wireless Symposium in Santa Clara, Calif. HP said this completes its four-chip integrated-circuit set that provides all of the radio-frequency functions needed for wireless applications in the 1.5 GHz to 2.5 GHz frequency range. All of the ICs operate at the 2-volt level. The HPLL-8001 is intended for use in conjunction with an external VCO and the dual modulus prescalar contained as part of the HPMX-5001 up/downconverter. Ora Electronics announced a retail version of its newly introduced Travel Talk +911 Hands-Free Speakerphone, named Rescue Mate. Rescue Mate is a plug-and-play hands-free speakerphone for portable cellular telephones that allows safer use of handsets inside vehicles, according to Ora. On the surface of the unit is a red button, labeled 911, which allows automatic 911 emergency access. By pressing the button for at least two seconds, the attached cellular phone automatically dials 911, opening a hands-free line of communication between the caller and the 911 operators. Cerulean Technology Inc.

Cerulean Technology Inc. is offering PacketTrack mapping software, a new component of its PacketCluster Patrol wireless information software suite for public-safety agencies. The PacketTrack AVL/Mapping system uses global positioning system satellite technology to transmit patrol units’ identification numbers, user names, status and latitudes and longitudes from the units and to receivers, which display the data as icons on digital maps. PacketTrack is accurate within 100 to 200 feet, said Cerulean. The PacketTrack product suite includes a real-time strategic mapping program and controller at the dispatch center, a digital map maintenance program and an in-vehicle mapping program. The software is compatible with most common mapping formats and can often use existing maps, said the company. PacketTrack can operate in many modes, enabling agencies to conserve bandwidth by transmitting only necessary data. The software can send data every time a mobile user transmits information. In certain situations, such as traffic stops or when users activate an emergency alert, the software sends location data only. The Direct Digital Synthesis-based architecture enables phase-locked scans and 10-hertz frequency tuning resolution, as compared with the 100 kHz resolution of many tuners.
