RESTON, Va.-The Federal Communications Commission approved the transfer of control of Ardis Co.’s wireless data network from Motorola Inc. to American Mobile Satellite Corp., following a $100-million cash and stock deal announced Dec. 31, said AMSC.
The acquisition received approval from the Federal Trade Commission last month. AMSC is the only company licensed by the FCC to provide mobile satellite services in the United States, said the company.
“We are pleased that the necessary regulatory approvals have taken place in an efficient and timely manner,” said Gary M. Parsons, president and chief executive officer of AMSC.
