CARRIER LAUNCHES PCS IN OHIO, KENTUCKY

CINCINNATI-Cincinnati Bell Wireless said it has launched personal communications services based on Time Division Multiple Access technology in the Cincinnati/Dayton/northern Kentucky market.

The launch is coordinated through a management agreement with AT&T Wireless Services Inc., which holds the personal communications services license. AT&T Wireless and CBW announced in February AT&T Wireless would transfer its PCS license to a CBW/AT&T Wireless joint venture. The transfer application is awaiting Federal Communications Commission approval.

The launch coincides with the opening of three new Cincinnati Bell-owned retail stores. The company has six total stores, which offer wireless services, wireline products and services, FUSE Internet service and DirecTV, all of which can be billed on a single Cincinnati Bell bill. In addition, CBW’s PCS offering will be available locally through retailers Circuit City, Sun and Best Buy.

CBW plans to launch service in Dayton, Ohio, later this year.
