NEW YORK-Rural Cellular Corp., Alexandria, Minn., hopes to price late this week the sale of $125 million in senior subordinated notes to help finance its acquisition of Atlantic Cellular Co. L.P. and Western Maine Cellular Inc.
Rural Cellular said it will pay $256 million for the deals, which cover a population of 1.2 million in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. Atlantic Cellular has about 68,000 customers, and Western Maine Cellular about 2,500 customers, said Ann Elliott, manager of corporate communications.
