UNION CITY, Calif.-Diva Communications Inc. announced it signed a contract with South Park Telephone Co. to supply its Diva-2000 wireless local loop system that will provide basic telephone service to residential subscribers outside Hartsel, Colo.
Pending Federal Communications Commission approval, deployment will begin this month. While the town of Hartsel is provided telephone service by U S West Communications Inc., the phone company does not offer service to more than 100 people living in the 600 square miles surrounding the town. South Park Telephone co. is an independent local exchange carrier formed to provide basic telephone service to subscribers in those outlying areas.
The planned WLL network will be deployed in several phases to ultimately service up to 175 subscribers. The Diva-2000 system is a digital fixed wireless access system that is cheaper to deploy than laying new copper lines in thinly populated environments, said Diva.
Intended for international markets, the system’s macrocellular coverage, modularity, flexibility and scaleability allow a network operator to rapidly establish telephone service at a very low cost per subscriber, said Diva.
