To the Editor:
It is always interesting to note the “Inside the Beltway” comments of Jeff Silva. I am specifically referring to the May 18 issue and his comments regarding the theoretical/ideological considerations and the real world. The D.C. Notes about how Jim Brady could support a man who loathed gun control and the next day be at a 180-degree different position clearly fail to grasp the obvious.
It is obvious to most of us “outside of Washington” that the fuel that fires all of this is MONEY and not some ideological consideration. The Bradys are paid very well by Handgun Control Inc. to promote gun control, and before this, Jim Brady was paid very well to be a spokesman for the (Reagan) administration.
It is well to remember that with the large number of lawyers in Washington and that the basic training for lawyers is that they are paid to be advocates, the entire Washington community consists of a disproportionate number of people driven by money rather than ideology or statesmanship.
