JACKSON, Miss.-SkyTel Communications Inc. announced it will deliver news from MSNBC to its subscribers at no additional cost.
Subscribers will receive MSNBC headlines twice a day at 11: 30 a.m. and 4: 30 p.m. SkyTel and MSNBC will cross link their Web sites as well so subscribers can access and view the full text of any story.
The agreement is the first phase of a strategic partnership between the two companies, SkyTel said. John Stupka, SkyTel president, said he plans to work with MSNBC to deliver customized news broadcasts to advanced messaging customers this fall, where subscribers choose from a Web site the specific news categories they want received on their pager. MSNBC is a cable-TV news channel joint venture between GE Corp.’s NBC broadcasting division and Microsoft Corp.
