NEW YORK-Millicom International Cellular S.A. said cellular subscriber growth in its Asian markets has been negatively impacted by the region’s financial crisis and the devaluation of some Asian currencies.
However, the company had an annualized increase in its subscriber base of 74 percent to 1.2 million, compared with 707,305 total subscribers at the end of the second quarter last year. Millicom added 143,766 net new cellular subscribers during the second quarter.
