LOS ANGELES-Global Access Pagers Inc. announced it will unveil a line of pagers, starting with the Amigo, designed to operate on the recently available 220 MHz frequency.
The pagers were developed in conjunction with Shuwa Technology Co. Ltd. of Japan. Global Access displayed early models of the devices at PCS ’98 in Orlando last month. Global Access said it will make the devices available immediately, pending certification by the Federal Communications Commission, expected during the fourth quarter.
The Amigo is a two-line alphanumeric pager capable of displaying up to 20 characters at a time, and is able to receive more than 15,000 characters, the company said.
