METROCALL TARGETS INTERNET, YOUTH AS GROWTH AREAS

During its third-quarter earnings conference call, Metrocall Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer William Collins III, announced the company plans to have its dedicated e-commerce site available to America Online customers in the next two weeks.

A joint marketing agreement the two entered recently called for Metrocall to have its own site on AOL where the online service provider’s customers could visit to order and pay for Metrocall goods and services.

Collins said the Internet, with some 100 million users, is just one of several growth areas Metrocall plans to target for future growth. Others include: the youth or Generation X market, comprised of people ages 16 to 34; alphanumeric text messaging; two-way paging used for non-traditional messaging applications, like telemetry; bundled services and products; and extending paging to palmtop devices.

Collins said Metrocall plans to meet these markets through continued strategic alliances, such as that with AOL, Vanguard Cellular Systems and Washington Gas, among others.

Metrocall is planning an analyst and investor conference Nov. 12 at its Alexandria, Va., headquarters to further detail its vision.
