Northeast Communications of Wisconsin Inc. announced it acquired U.S. Cellular’s Marathon County operations. Cellcom, the company’s wireless subsidiary, will provide cellular and paging services. Marathon County will be the fifth Wisconsin county served by Cellcom and the second metropolitan service area for the company. Cellcom’s other three Wisconsin markets and its three markets in Iowa are in rural areas.
Novatel Wireless Inc. announced it appointed Robert Corey chief executive officer. Prior to joining Novatel, Corey was president and CEO of several venture-backed high-tech companies, such as Four Pi Systems, Athens Corp., Satloc Inc. and Lokring Corp. Novatel manufacturers the Minstrel wireless Cellular Digital Packet Data modem designed for use with 3Com Corp.’s PalmPilot series of personal digital assistants.

DatumCom Corp. announced through its affiliates in Chile it entered an agreement with BellSouth Chile to jointly provide automatic vehicle location and global positioning system services in that country.
Edwards and Kelcey Wireless, a subsidiary of Edwards and Kelcey Inc., announced it acquired Communication Acquisition Consulting Inc., significantly expanding its services and capabilities. EKW provides planning, consulting, design and construction services for the communications industry. EKW said the acquisition of CAC will add wireless site development and management services to its capabilities.
