DULLES, Va.-Orbcomm Global L.P. said the European Regulatory Commission issued two rulings positively affecting the company’s effort to bring mobile satellite-based data services to the continent.
First, the ERC decided to allow the introduction of satellite communications systems to the 43 European Posts and Telecommunications countries, citing that only Orbcomm has satisfied all the requirements needed to be licensed by European administrators. Second, the body established the free circulation, use and licensing of subscriber units across national boundaries.
These decisions now are open for public comment, with final adoption scheduled for March, said Orbcomm.
