LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel Corp. announced it entered into an agreement to acquire all the assets of BellSouth Mobility’s cellular operations in the Dothan, Ala., area.
“The purchase will allow us to bring the Alltel bundle of services, which may include paging, Internet access, long distance as well as local phone service, to customers in the Dothan area,” said Dave Atkins, Alltel operations vice president. “It will also give Alltel customers in the tri-state area greater opportunities for extended local calling and roaming.”
The purchase will give Alltel a continuous coverage area in southern Alabama and adjoining parts of Georgia and Florida.
The company said the acquisition will add more than 15,000 customers.
