BOULDER, Colo.-Century Telephone Enterprises Inc. selected SCC Communications Corp. to implement wireless enhanced 911 services for the carrier, announced the companies.
CenturyTel will use SCC’s 911Connect Service, which includes collection and preparation of database information required to support wireless 911 implementation. SCC also will coordinate with public safety answering points, existing local exchange carriers and E911 network providers in CenturyTel’s markets, said SCC.
Implementation of the system will allow CenturyTel to comply with the Federal Communications Commission’s Phase I E911 mandate that requires wireless carriers to provide the 10-digit call back number and the location of the cell site transmitting the call to emergency dispatchers.
