Canada

Cell-Loc Inc. announced it expects to receive funding from the National Research
Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program to assist in continued research and development of a Code
Division Multiple Access Cellocate System. The Cellocate System is capable of locating any cellular telephone through
a carrier’s existing network. “North America digital cellular subscribership is over 7 million. Asian countries
maintain 76-percent CDMA regional market share. The opportunities in offering a wireless location solution for the
CDMA interface are tremendous,” said John Webb, chairman and chief executive officer, Cell-
Loc.

Finland

Nokia Oy announced it signed a three-year, $160 million agreement with Radiolinja, Finland, for
dual-band Global System for Mobile communications solutions. “The amount of subscribers for our nationwide
dual-band network is increasing rapidly,” said Peretti Malva, managing director, Radiolinja. “Voice and
short message traffic has more than doubled in one year and new GSM data services will require more capacity from
the network. Nokia will provide base stations, base station controllers, its short message service center and the Nokia
Network Management Center at both GSM 900 and GSM 1800 frequencies.

Romania

Telesystem International
Wireless Inc. reported its subsidiary, MobiFon S.A., a Global System for Mobile communications operator in Romania,
surpassed the 300,000 subscribers mark after only 20 months in commercial operation and will extend its license by
five years to 15 years. MobiFon also successfully closed the syndication of loan facilities totaling $105 million. The
facilities, combined with a concurrent $50 million shareholders’ contribution, will allow the company to finish building
its digital cellular network in Romania and pay $25 million for the license extension.

China

Nexus Telocation
Systems Ltd. received an order from Global Wireless Holdings to install a test system in China. The system will
include automatic vehicle location, two-way paging and telemetry capabilities. The initial order totals $1 million. This
will be the second system implemented by Nexus in the Far East.
