WASHINGTON-Bell Atlantic Mobile has reached an agreement with the National Park Service
that should produce a decision on whether the controversial antenna towers can be built in Rock Creek Park by the
middle of April. The agreement could be precedent-setting if the timetable set out in the agreement works to the benefit
of both parties.
“We’re optimistic that the park service has established time lines for review of the
environmental assessments for both applications. Those time lines were not in the guidelines,” said Bob Posilkin,
BAM manager for real estate.
The pact calls for a 30-day environmental review followed by a 30-day public
comment period. A decision then would be rendered within two weeks.
