220 MHZ NON-COMMERCIAL LICENSE FIGHT LANDS IN APPEALS COURT

WASHINGTON-PLMRS Narrowband Corp. and the Federal Communications Commission were
in federal appeals court last Friday arguing whether the FCC should have canceled the applications for 220 MHz non-
commercial licenses when it decided to award the licenses by auction.

The case dates back to the early 1990s when
the FCC received authority to authorize licenses by auction rather than lottery or comparative hearing. A decision is
expected within a few months.
