HYANNIS, Mass.-Excel Switching Corp. announced it has enhanced its open programmable
switching platform to include an open subscriber-based service layer that enables carriers and developers to offer
customized services.
EXS Services is a new feature of Excel’s ONE Architecture Expandable Switching System. It
builds on EXS Signaling, an open signaling protocol layer, and EXS Call Control, an open call control, connection
control and resource management layer. EXS Services will allow developers to customize subscriber-based services,
such as call waiting, call transferring and call forwarding using a graphical development environment and open
subscriber database server.
The company said services that traditionally take months to develop can often be created
or customized in hours or days using the product.
In other news, Excel announced it has selected Motorola Inc.’s
Computer Group’s CPX8216 CompactPCI chassis as the newest component of its ONE Architecture EXS. The new
chassis offers 16 slots that can be configured to provide both simplex and redundant hardware options to support the
specific needs of customer applications.
