BELLEVUE, Wash.-The TR45.3 technical committee of the Telecommunications Industry 
Association completed an updated version of the ANSI-136 Time Division Multiple Access standard.
This 
represents the culmination of the second phase of the UWC-136 third-generation proposal, which was submitted to the 
International Telecommunication Union in 1998.
“The completion of this second phase demonstrates the 
cooperation and progress of TDMA stakeholders to make 3G communications a reality for our vendors, carriers and 
consumers,” said Leo Nikkari, vice president for strategy & programs of the Universal Wireless Communications 
Consortium.
