HANNOVER, Germany-Lucent Technologies Inc. introduced a wireless platform that will
enable TIme Division Multiple Access network operators to offer third-generation services such as seamless global
roaming and converged voice, video and data applications.
The platform is part of Lucent’s Flexent product line and
includes development of a wideband or software defined radio to support Enhanced Data for Global Evolution
technology. In addition, Lucent said its platform will support Bell Labs’ multibeam smart antenna technology, which
enables TDMA operators to increase voice capacity and increase the number of users on their network.
