GERMANTOWN, Md.-Hughes Network Systems announced Hughes Ispat Ltd. of India completed an in-service cutover of its wireless local loop network from an NEC NEAX61E switch to an NEC NEAX61 Sigma switch, an ATM-based Class 5 switch for multimedia services.
Hughes Ispat is operating in the regions of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune, all using the new switches.
HNS said it provided its AIReach Local Loop system, which employs Time Division Multiple Access technology based on the IS-136 standard, as the wireless component of the Hughes Ispat network.
