Intellicell

Intellicell Corp. announced Mike Hedge and Michael King, both previously with CellStar Corp., are heading up Intellicell’s sales and marketing group. Hedge will be responsible for the implementation of an overall strategic growth plan to increase revenues and King will focus on developing a marketing plan and original accessories program. Hedge was previously CellStar’s vice president of U.S. sales and marketing and King was the company’s director of marketing.

Nextel

Nextel Communications Inc. appointed Ellis R. Rosenberg director of marketing for the Mid-Atlantic area. He was a senior marketing manager at Nextel for two years and spent three years at Sprint Corp. In his new position, Rosenberg will oversee advertising, public relations, pricing, promotions and product introductions.

Patrick F. Ballage was promoted from sales manager to director of indirect channels for Nextel’s Philadelphia market. He will direct the efforts of sales personnel in southeastern Pennsylvania, south New Jersey and Delaware.

Hutton Communications

John C. Walker was appointed chief financial officer of Hutton Communications Inc. Walker joins Hutton from River Oaks Furniture Inc., where he served as its vice president of finance and CFO.

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Wireless Communications Inc. announced Michael A. Wise joined the company as a technology manager, where he will act as a liaison between MWCI’s sales, marketing and engineering departments, and evaluate and identify existing and future technologies and opportunities. Wise spent 19 years at Oki Telecom, most recently as a manager of product administration.

Omnipoint

Omnipoint Communications Inc. named Bridget Hatcher human resources manager. She will be responsible for overseeing and implementing human resource policies and compensation, benefits and training activities. Prior to joining Omnipoint, Hatcher worked as a project manager for the GTE TeleGo start-up project in Tampa, Fla.

Eric Glymph was appointed finance manager and will oversee all of the accounting and financing issues. Glymph came from Thompson Consumer Electronics, where he spent six years as a finance and fixed-assets manager.

AML

Gerald M. Starek became AML Communications Inc.’s newest board member. Starek presently serves as director of Advanced Energy Industries Inc. He had been president, chief executive officer and chairman of the Silicon Valley Group, a company he founded in 1977.

PCIA

The Personal Communications Industry Association appointed Dennis Corcoran vice president of meetings and conventions. Corcoran will join PCIA April 30 from D. Corcoran & Associates, where he is president. He has more than 32 years of trade association and corporate experience.

Ellen B. Mullally was appointed director of communications. Mullally previously was managing editor of the wireless group at Phillips Business Information, where she was responsible for several newsletters and an annual industry directory. In her new role, Mullally will focus on trade media relations and PCIA member communications.

AirGate Wireless

Thomas Dougherty was appointed chief executive officer of AirGate Wireless, an affiliate of Sprint PCS. Prior to his appointment, Dougherty served as region vice president for Sprint PCS in Atlanta, where he directed the sales and marketing efforts in 18 markets and developed 45 retail distribution sites. Prior to joining Sprint PCS in 1997, he was the executive vice president and CEO of a personal communications services operator in Nashville, Tenn.

Clariti

Clariti Telecommunications International Ltd. named Louis C. Golm vice chairman of the company’s board of directors. Golm formerly was president of AirTouch International and spent more than 30 years with AT&T Corp., where he served in various executive positions, including president and chief executive officer of AT&T-Japan.

Diversinet

Diversinet Corp. announced the addition of Gemplus North American Executive Vice President Michael Crosno to its board of directors. Crosno was most recently the general manager and vice president for Eastman Kodak in the Business Imaging Systems, Americas. He also has held positions with ViewStar Corp., Computer Associates International and CIT Alcatel.

US Unwired

Bridgette Richardson earned the title of “PCS Sales Person of the Year” for the second consecutive year. She works at the Sprint PCS/US Unwired retail store in Lafayette, La., as a senior account executive and assistant manager. Richardson joined US Unwired in 1997.

FCC

Federal Communications Commission Chairman William Kennard named Bruce M. Allan, a senior Harris Corp. executive, to the FCC’s newly created Technological Advisory Council. Allan, vice president and general manager of Harris’ Broadcast System Division, will join 21 other representatives in keeping the FCC informed of innovations and new developments in the communications industry.

Wireless Knowledge

Wireless Knowledge L.L.C. appointed Peter Price chief financial officer. Price most recently was vice president of finance and CFO of Packet Engines Inc. and previously served as North American controller for Microsoft Corp.

IPivot

Tom Clarkson III, a founder and former vice president of marketing at Wireless Knowledge L.L.C., left the company for a position at IPivot, an Internet e-commerce company.

Wireless Knowledge Vice President of Sales Dave Whalen will expand his duties to vice president of sales and marketing, assuming Clarkson’s former duties. Whalen was previously vice president of sales and marketing at Sony Corp.
