WASHINGTON-Motorola Inc. announced an agreement with car manufacturer Jaguar to develop a telematics system called Jaguar Assist as an option on all 2000 model-year Jaguar S-Type sedans in North America.
The system is proposed to use the wireless communications and global positioning system technology of Motorola’s Telematics Communications Unit for 24-hour emergency response and roadside assistance. The company said the product will allow drivers an in-dash, one-button voice connection to a messaging center contracted by Jaguar, which can alert emergency services or arrange for other assistance.
S-Type sedans are expected to have the feature available in May.
