LAS VEGAS-Nokia Corp. unveiled several new Internet protocol solutions to provide mobile professionals with broadband wireless access to services such as e-mail, corporate information and the Internet.
The solutions can wirelessly extend the corporate local area network to common areas such as meeting rooms and in-building public wireless hot spots, such as airport lounges, providing wireless portable computer connectivity.
The Nokia solution incorporates various IP technologies including:
Wireless LAN solutions like wireless access points, access PC cards and a simplified user and administration environment.
IP security solutions such as integrated firewalls, authentication and encryption.
IP telephony solutions including advanced call control and processing, residential-to-carrier public switched telephone network gateways and IP telephones.
The solutions are part of Nokia’s “IP Mobility” strategy, which focuses on both cellular communications and traditional data networking to provide users with mobile access to all types of media and information.
