SAN DIEGO-Canada’s Bell Mobility announced it will begin formally testing the Revolv service from Wireless Knowledge L.L.C., the joint venture created by Microsoft Corp. and Qualcomm Inc.
The announcement makes Bell Mobility the first carrier to begin testing Revolv, the first service offering from Wireless Knowledge. It is designed to give mobile users access to information located on back office Microsoft Exchange servers-such as e-mail, contact lists, calendar information and Internet content-using a variety of wireless devices.
Revolv is available on an OEM basis for wireless carriers looking to offer enhanced services to their subscribers.
The trial announcement coincides with the introduction of Bell Mobility’s first digital data wireless service, called Digital Data to Go. The Revolv service, once offered commercially, will be positioned as an enhanced service for Digital Data to Go customers, the company said.
The trials are expected to end in June with rollout to corporate customers beginning soon after. Mediaserve Communications Inc., a Web-hosting company, is expected to be one of the early adopters.
Wireless Knowledge previously announced it will offer Infowave Software Inc.’s wireless enterprise computing technology with the Revolv wireless data access service.
Wireless Knowledge said the addition of Infowave technology will provide Revolv users with enhanced capabilities when using Microsoft Outlook and Pocket Outlook on their wireless and mobile devices.
