DULLES, Va.-America Online Inc. announced a strategic relationship with 3Com Corp., designed to extend AOL e-mail to Palm Computing handheld devices.
3Com said it will bundle AOL’s new software in retail packages of certain Palm organizers and PalmModem accessories. As part of a market test, AOL will offer members Palm III organizers.
Additionally, the two said they will explore ways to develop a full-featured version of AOL software specifically for the Palm Computing platform that would give access to AOL content, e-mail and Instant Messenger and Buddy Lists.
