Supra Products rounded out its TRACcess family of electronic access devices with the introduction of its TRAC-Cabinet device.
TRAC-Cabinet is a general purpose electronic cabinet lock designed to control and monitor access to cabinets, drawers and enclosures.
Dan Ostlund, corporate director of marketing at Supra, said the product completes the company’s vision of a system that provides one-key electronic access to multiple remote sites.
The TRACcess system uses pager-sized electronic keys that can be used to open gate padlocks, door locks and now cabinet locks. The keys can be programmed to allow full access to the site or only to certain areas of the site. A groundskeeper, for instance, could be given access only to enter the gate, while a technician could be given full access to all equipment at the site, said the company.
Both the electronic keys and the locking devices monitor activity at sites, including who accessed the site and when. Monitoring not only improves security at sites, but also increases accountability by allowing carriers to verify billable hours submitted by subcontractors, said the company.
Carriers can require the keys to periodically be renewed, including a download via a touch-tone phone of the access information recorded in the electronic key.
TRAC-Cabinet can be installed on any cabinet with no need for external wiring to power or communication networks, said the company. The electronic interface can be attached to keyed cabinet locks and thumb-turn locks.
