The U.S. Federal Communications Commission will auction 16,000 paging licenses later this year in the upper bands of 929-930 MHz and 931-932 MHz, and the lower bands of 35-36 MHz, 43-44 MHz, 152-159 MHz and 454-460 MHz.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission’s re-auction of 161 local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) licenses-broadband wireless access-closed in May with bids totaling US$45 million. BIA Consulting estimated the total weighted average price per pop for the 161 licenses was US$1.30. The spectrum auction included 121 Block A licenses (1,150 megahertz) and 40 Block B licenses (150 megahertz).

Canada

Canada announced it will award, beginning in August, 354 licenses for spectrum in the 24 GHz and 38 GHz bands by both auction and first-come-first served. The spectrum allocations match those used in the United States.
