FRANKFURT, Germany-Deutsche Telekom AG is rumored to have entered an $11.75 billion bid to acquire British mobile phone company One2One, according to a Reuters report.
“We have no comment,” Deutsche Telekom spokesman Stephan Broszio told Reuters.
One2One was put up for sale by its parents Cable & Wireless Plc and MediaOne Group Inc. earlier this year, with bidders including Mannesmann AG, Deutsche Telecom and France Telecom. All of the bidders, however, had dropped out by last week.
Reuters speculated a bid by Deutsche Telekom could set off a bidding war among the original bidders.
One2One is the smallest mobile phone operator in the United Kingdom with 2.25 million subscribers on March 31.
