WASHINGTON-Proponents of unlicensed spectrum announced plans to organize as a subcommittee with the Wireless Communications Association.
The group’s mission statement is “to promote the interests of unlicensed spectrum providers, focusing especially on fixed wireless applications.”
Durga P. Satapathy, a senior member of Sprint Corp.’s Advanced Technologies Group technical staff, was elected chairman of the group.
The group’s goals include creating a Web site with information about major unlicensed spectrum bands, prioritizing major technical and regulatory issues, and building coalitions with other companies.
