DENVER-VeloCom Inc. said its consortium in Brazil, Canbra Telefonica, awarded a $200 million, five-year contract to Ericsson Inc. to supply 1.6 GHz Code Division Multiple Access wireless infrastructure equipment.
Ericsson will supply base station equipment and cell site materials to Canbra, which will deploy telephone service in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerias and Bahia by the end of the year, followed by deployment in 13 other states in Canbra’s region, said VeloCom.
Delivery and installation of the equipment will begin immediately.
