Transcrypt International Inc. said its EFJohnson subsidiary launched a new line of mobile and portable radios designed to operate on Motorola Inc.’s Smartnet and SmartZone systems in the 800 MHz frequency band. The portable radio comes with three keys or a dual-tone multifrequency keypad. The mobile has a rugged chassis with a front-firing speaker. Both radios come with complete lines of accessories and are available in either Smartnet only or Smartnet and SmartZone modes combined. The radios will begin shipping next month. (402) 474-4800.

Andrew

Andrew Corp. introduced Heliax VXL5-50 extra flexible 7/8-inch coaxial cable for wireless applications. The new cable has a minimum bend radius of 3.5 inches and is suitable for continuous cable runs from the base station cabinet to the antenna. The cable is 15 percent lighter than standard 7/8-inch cable products and also comes with a full 10-year warranty.

Andrew also added three new models to its Code Division Multiple Access family of repeaters. The SelectAmp CDMA 1900-1 model has 2 watts of output power in forward and reverse directions. It has the gain and output power range needed to boost radio-frequency signal levels in a variety of in-building and outdoor null fill applications. The SelectAmp CDMA 1900-1H model provides 8 watts of output power, and the SelectAmp CDMA 1900-1HD takes the 8 watts of output power and adds a receive diversity option that increases uplink traffic capacity as well as call capacity. LG Information and Communications Ltd. debuted the LGC-330W dual-mode cellular phone. It has flip activation and a variety of features, including vibration alert, selectable ring and a 99-number speed-dial phone book. CellPort

CellPort Labs introduced its latest vehicle-based wireless communications product, the CP2100, a mobile network server designed to enable two-way data communications, network management and wireless connectivity between vehicles and remote applications. The device is able to collect data from several in-vehicle networks, compile it for transmission, then act as the network link to send the data to a centralized monitoring application via various wireless systems, according to CellPort. Computer Associates International Inc. and CellPort formed a marketing and development partnership to integrate the product in CA’s new Unicenter TNG Fleet Management System. CA’s Unicenter TNG is an asset-monitoring application used primarily to monitor computer networks and vending machines. MTU Wireless

MTU Wireless Inc. introduced the Extreme by MTU faceplates, which are compatible with the Nokia 51xx series and Nokia 6120, 6160 and 6190 handset models. The faceplates for the Nokia 51xx models function like those from the manufacturer so they can be snapped on at any time. The Extreme 6120, 6160 and 6190 faceplates use the four T-6 screws under the battery, which should be changed by an authorized Nokia technician. More than 30 colors and designs are available. WiseBand

WiseBand Communications Ltd. announced the Wise-800, a digital signal processor-based ultralinear multicarrier power amplifier for cellular networks. The 80-watt amplifier supports Code Division Multiple Access, Time Division Multiple Access and analog cellular standards in the 869-894 MHz frequency band. Wise-800 supports configurations of up to four modules and allows operators to deploy scalable, redundant high-power solutions with output up to 300 watts. A new family of PIN diode-based voltage variable attenuators is available from M/A-Com. The AT10-0009, AT10-0017, AT10-0019 and AT65-0008 offer an increase of 15-20 dB of Input IP3 compared with traditional GaAs VVAs, and the high IP3 performance is well suited for multichannel communication applications. Antenna Products Corp. introduced a personal communications service closed loop, omnidirectional antenna for cable applications. It includes a POCSAG encoder for paging to alphanumeric, numeric and tone/vibrate pagers. Customers can program the internal 200 name directory to page by typing a name and the text of the message. Allen Telecom

Allen Telecom Inc. and Antenna Specialists announced a 900 MHz fixed-station yagi antenna, model ASPG2994, ideal for point-to-point systems, spread-spectrum applications, selected area coverage and wireless local loop. It has a frequency range of 890-960 MHz, a typical front-to-back ratio of 10 dB, a 50-watt power rating, a 328-miles-per-hour wind velocity rating and is 11.75 inches long. Allen Telecom also announced the model series ASPDM1960 antennas, designed to fit on existing cellular roof mount ASPD1860 installations. gates can be secured with an easily installed and operated heavy duty chain and latch configuration. The front plate is designed so a Card Access Reader unit can be placed directly on the gate lock, eliminating the need for a separate card reader. Boonton Electronics Corp. introduced the 5730 series of universal radio-frequency power/volt meters for measuring both power and voltage in VXI configurations. It can sample up to 200 readings per second and measures power levels from minus 70 dBm to 44 dBm within a 90 dB dynamic range. The 5730 series measures RF voltage from 10 hertz to 2.5 gigahertz and covers 10 kilohertz to 100 gigahertz when measuring power.
