Tessco Technologies Inc. appointed Kevin P. Demery vice president and unit director of product and brand development. He will be responsible for electronic commerce, product management, strategic planning and all marketing communications. Demery has held senior sales and marketing positions with Ericsson Inc. and GE Mobile Communications.

Americom

Americom Wireless Services announced Greg Hall is its new vice president of quality assurance. Hall will enhance the quality processes throughout Americom by improving the consistency of service, incorporating metrics to monitor trends and implementing company service standards. He has 20 years of high-technology manufacturing experience, most recently with Manufacturing Services and Integration as its president and chief operating officer.

Tropian

Tropian Inc. appointed Michael R. Farese president and chief executive officer. Farese brings to Tropian 28 years of telecommunications experience. He has held senior management positions at Motorola Inc., Ericsson Inc., Nokia Corp., ITT Corp. and AT&T Corp. Most recently, Farese served as vice president and general manager for the Global Personal Networks Division at Motorola. He was responsible for developing and marketing global networks to provide wireless services to professional and personal users.

Hunton & Williams

John Cimko, former chief of the policy division for the Federal Communications Commission’s Wireless Bureau, joined the law firm of Hunton & Williams as counsel in the firm’s telecommunications bureau. Cimko had served as chief of the FCC Wireless Bureau’s policy division since December 1994. He was responsible for developing regulatory policies affecting personal communications services, cellular and paging services, spectrum allocation and development of new wireless technologies.

Spectrian

Michael D. Angel joined Spectrian as executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Angel comes to Spectrian from National Semiconductor Corp., where he most recently held the position of director of finance for its worldwide manufacturing and process technology operations. He also has held finance positions at Hitachi Data Systems as vice president and worldwide controller, and at PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P. as senior audit manager.

Athene

Terry Johnson joined Athene Software as director of channel management and strategic partnerships. With more than 18 years of technical service, sales and marketing experience, Johnson will oversee Athene’s partner operations, both domestic and international. Prior to joining Athene, Johnson held positions with CiTR Inc., Lightbridge, Xilinx and Covia.

Winstar

Winstar appointed Richard J. Uhl group executive and chief financial officer. He will be responsible for all financial and corporate administrative support functions. Since 1997, Uhl was the president and chief operating officer of Winstar for buildings, where he was responsible for securing access rights to commercial buildings. He will continue this responsibility in his new position. Prior to joining Winstar, Uhl was a member of the board of directors for Frontier Corp.

interWAVE

interWAVE Communications International Ltd. added three key executives. Ian V. Sugarbroad joined the company as president and chief operating officer. Sugarbroad had a 23-year management career at Nortel Networks, most recently as vice president of business development and Global System for Mobile communications solutions prior to joining interWAVE. Thomas W. Hubbs rejoined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Hubbs had been senior vice president and CFO at interWAVE from 1995 to 1998, when he became senior vice president and CFO of Walker Interactive Systems Inc. H. David Jones also rejoined interWAVE as vice president of product marketing. Jones was vice president, international sales, at interWAVE from 1994 to 1997, but left the company for Symmetry Communications Systems Inc., where he was co-founder and vice president, worldwide sales.

Anritsu

Anritsu Corp. promoted Bill Lovelace to general manager of the International Sales Management Center. Phil Bowen will replace Lovelace as president of Anritsu’s North American Region Operation.

L-3 Communications

L-3 Communications named Paul F. Green to the newly created position of president of the Telemetry-East division. He will oversee the planning and implementation of programs for the newly merged Aydin Telemetry and Microcom companies. He joins the company from Smiths Industries, where he most recently was the director of programs and site manager. Green has spent the last 35 years in electronic systems and product development management.

Cerulean

Cerulean Technology promoted Charles Vlcek to vice president of customer fulfillment, where he will lead new investments in systems development and organization training, and develop the company’s professional services. Vlcek has worked for Trimble Navigation, GTE Government Systems and Loral Corp.

BellSouth International

BellSouth International named Israel J. Jiles III, former vice president of strategic technology for Frito Lay International, chief information officer. Jiles will oversee information technology operations in existing BellSouth overseas affiliates and evaluate the IT needs of new business opportunities.

Cibernet

Daniel Nagler was named international sales executive for Cibernet. Nagler most recently was in international sales for a large commercial aerospace manufacturer. He will work out of Cibernet’s London office.

Aether

Aether Systems Inc. appointed William Davidson to senior vice president of sales, and Marque Watson to director of sales. Davidson will be responsible for sales and strategic business development, as well as growing Aether’s enterprise customer base. Watson will be directing the company’s enterprise sales strategy. Davidson previously was vice president of wireless data sales and marketing for Bell Atlantic Mobile, and Watson was the regional channel manager, Southern region, for BellSouth Wireless Data.

FocusWireless.com

FocusWireless.com promoted Mark Fruehan from executive vice president of new business development and strategic planning to chief marketing and business development officer. Fruehan has more than 13 years of wireless industry experience.

General Magic

General Magic Inc. named Rose Marcario senior vice president and chief financial officer. Marcario has more than 10 years of financial management experience, most recently with International Rectifier Corp., where she served as vice president of global financial services.

Teledesic

Teledesic L.L.C. added former North Atlantic Treaty Organization official Klaus Naumann as its managing director of Europe. He will work with Teledesic’s business development team to formulate and execute the company’s distribution plan for Europe, and develop relationships with investors and partners in the public and private sector. Naumann had served as chairman of the military committee of NATO from 1996 to 1999. Teledesic also named Paul Thompson director of European technical regulatory affairs. He will represent Teledesic before the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations, the European Telecommunication Standards Institute and the International Telecommunication Union. Prior to joining Teledesic, Thompson spent five years managing the radio communication department of ERA Technology Ltd. in the United Kingdom.

ATIS

George Edwards, president and chief executive officer of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, announced his retirement and resignation. He had been ATIS’ president and CEO since 1990. He will be succeeded by Susan Miller, an ATIS executive.

InfoMove appointed Peter Holland, former president and co-founder of Teletronics Management Services, to president and chief executive officer of th
e company. He will be responsible for securing financing, overseeing business development and leading the company’s core management team.

Berkeley Varitronics

Scott Schober now is the president and chief executive officer of Berkeley Varitronics Inc. He succeeds his father, Gary Schober, who will remain as chairman and chief technical officer.
