WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission last week proposed 24 GHz auction rules that would aid small businesses and possibly rural telephone companies.
The FCC plan provides bidding credits of 15 percent and 25 percent to small businesses and very small businesses, respectively. The agency solicited public comment on how rural telcos might be assisted. It is proposed that eligibility for licenses, which are expected to be used for broadband and wireless local loop services, be open.
