TIA: U.S. telecom market grew 11.4 percent in ’99

WASHINGTON-The U.S. telecommunications market, including services and equipment, grew by more than 11.4 percent in 1999, said the Telecommunications Industry Association on Friday. This increase resulted in $517.6 billion in revenues, TIA added.

TIA, which represents telecom manufacturers, said spending on telecom equipment grew by 11.5 percent in 1999 as compared with 1998.

Professional and technical support services is the fastest-growing segment of the industry, rising 18.1 percent in 1999 to $116.4 billion.
