SEATTLE-The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium announced there were 30 million worldwide Time Division Multiple Access subscribers as of the end of the third quarter.
“We are on track to exceed 35 million subscribers before the end of the millennium,” said Sheila Mickool, UWCC president. “The 61-percent subscriber growth since Dec. 31, 1998, demonstrates the strength of TDMA technology acceptance globally.”
The number of TDMA subscribers in North America totaled 17 million, with 10.9 million in Latin America.
