WARSAW, Poland-France Telecom placed a binding offer for a strategic stake in Poland’s majority state-owned telecom operator Telekomunikacja Polska (TPSA), Reuters reported. Following SBC Communications Inc.’s withdrawal from the tender last month, the French operator is the only bidder for a 25-percent to 35-percent stake in TPSA, which holds a monopoly on non-local calls in Poland.
TPSA owns 66 percent of Centertel, one of three wireless operators in the country.
The report said the offer likely will be considered by Dec. 15.
