ZURICH, Switzerland-Swissair said it became the first airline to allow customers to check in for flights using Wireless Application Protocol-based mobile phones. The service, which was developed in conjunction with IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, began Thursday.
Frequent flyers can check in for flights departing from Zurich. Check-in is confirmed on the telephone display window, including flight number, time of departure, and gate and seat assignment. Once customers check in, they will be kept up to date of any changes to the flight.
