PALO ALTO, Calif.-Corsair Communications Inc.’s PhonePrint technology has prevented more than 300 million fraudulent cell phone calls worldwide, the company said.
“Our PhonePrint fraud prevention system is on the job every day guarding wireless customers and network operators in the United States and 11 other countries in Asia and Latin America,” said Tom Meyer, Corsair Communications’ president and chief executive officer.
The system is based on radio-frequency fingerprinting technology. The PhonePrint system maintains a database of cell phone fingerprints, which are unique RF signal characteristics. When a phone has been cloned, the system can detect it and disconnect the phone before it can be used, the company said.
