SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. said its MSM3000 chipset and high-speed packet data software solution is featured in handsets developed by several Japanese manufacturers for the 64 kilobits per second, high-speed packet data service launched on Japan’s nationwide cdmaOne network.
The network, launched on Jan. 7, was jointly developed by DDI Corp. and IDO Corp. of Japan.
“We are very pleased that the proven high-speed packet data solution was delivered by Qualcomm to manufacturers on time,” said Tamasuke Ohmori, director and general manager of Product Department for IDO Corp. “Through Qualcomm’s efforts, several handsets that link to the Internet at speeds of up to 64 kbps are ready for our cdmaOne high-speed packet data service.”
The MSM3000 chipset and software represent the first solution available in production quantities to support IS-95B mobile protocol revision four, with data rates of up to 86.4 kbps, according to Qualcomm.
