IBM, Symbian sign joint-development agreement

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-IBM Corp. and the Symbian initiative announced a joint-development agreement to create wireless enterprise applications for Symbian-based devices.

The new applications are expected to give mobile workers access to Internet and corporate-based data and allow them to work with the data offline.

The agreement adds IBM’s enterprise software and database middleware to Symbian’s wireless operating system.
