Metrocall Inc. announced it has launched a marketing campaign in support of its agreement with HitMeNow.com, an online shopping service, formed in November.
HitMeNow.com offers deals on tickets to entertainment events, for merchandise and for travel opportunities. Customers who access the Web site can fill out a personal profile of what types of items about which they wish to be notified.
The marketing effort is designed both to attract subscribers to the wireless shopping service, as well as to attract new alphanumeric customers by offering advanced devices with HitMeNow.com’s offer feeds preprogrammed in them, the company said.
“Metrocall is dedicated to adding value for our existing alphanumeric subscribers as well as looking for ways to attract new advanced messaging subscribers,” said Steven Jacoby, Metrocall chief operating officer.
“Such programs as HitMeNow.com will build value, customer loyalty and enhance retention. Our exclusive Internet and established retail marketing and distribution channels are perfectly suited for the unique merchandising opportunities that HitMeNow.com offers.”
Metrocall said it will package information about the offering with its one-way messaging and two-way advanced messaging services through in-store and direct-mail promotions.
In addition, the company said it formed a new group called the System Application Division to focus specifically on business and not-for-profit organizations.
The division previously was known as the Medical System Sales business unit and focused on hospitals. Metrocall said it now dominates the medical and health-care industry, enabling it to expand its focus to new areas. By the end of last year, it had collected more than 4,000 major hospitals, clinics, medical and health-care facilities nationally as Metrocall subscribers.
These facilities use the company’s Integrated Resource Management system-an on-campus directory and messaging application with extensions for intranet and wide area network connections. Also, Metrocall’s Alertlink monitors information on selected systems and sends alerts to IRM subscribers based on predefined parameters.
Metrocall renamed the Medical System Sales group to the System Application Division and gave it a new focus of attracting businesses and not-for-profit groups to the same set of products, integrating with engineering, MIS and telecommunications systems, alarm systems and other facility functions.
Nancy Green, who led the Medical System Sales group, has been named vice president of the System Application Division.
“Effective today, Nancy Green and her sales organization are being given a green light to market IRM systems, Alertlink and other wireless data and messaging products and services to businesses in virtually every industry to all types of service organizations,” Jacoby said.
“Thanks to Nancy and her staff, today more than a quarter million doctors, nurses, medical and emergency service professionals rely on Metrocall wireless messaging systems and devices in life and death situations on a daily basis. Now we will take that impressive record to other venues.”
