PocketPay to enable Internet terminal transactions

WINTER GARDEN, Fla.-Pilot Island Publishing and its PocketPay Joint Venture partner, eConnect, have structured a licensing arrangement with PalmPilot enabling the first-ever wireless handheld Internet terminal transactions.

The PocketPay, a handheld combination Palm VII, phone and bank-card Internet terminal, will send encrypted data from an ATM card with PIN or from a credit card to the Palm VII proxy server, which will in turn pass on the transaction to the eConnect/RGTecq Linux Transaction server and then on to the eConnect Host system for bank-card authorization.

PocketPay prototype testing is scheduled to begin during the third quarter.
