Commerce awards grants for minority access

WASHINGTON-The Department of Commerce has awarded two grants to help bridge the digital divide-the difference between those who have and those who do not have access to the Information Superhighway-in minority communities. One grant to the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute of Claremount, Calif., would help Hispanic communities. The other to the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education is for a technology assessment study at each of the nation’s historically black colleges and universities.
