WellMed aims to provide health info to wireless phones

PORTLAND, Ore.-WellMed Inc. announced an initiative to provide consumers with access to their personal health information and medical resources via wireless phones, Palm Pilots, two-way pagers and other wireless terminals.

According to WellMed, the Personal Health Manager will allow consumers to access relevant health information and obtain recommended tips for achieving a healthier lifestyle through the Internet. Individuals can track and manage health conditions through a series of tools, including a health assessment and profiling questionnaire, an online medical record and tailored improvement programs.

“Providing portable access provides a wealth of benefits for consumers-from looking up herbal supplements to determine drug interactions at a grocery store to accessing life-saving personal medical information in an emergency situation,” said Craig Froude, president and chief executive officer of WellMed.
