ARLINGTON, Va.-In a study by eBrain Market Research, 30 percent of wireless phone owners stated they were more likely to give up their home telephones than mobile phones. For respondents in the 18-to-34 age group, the likelihood increased to 45 percent, and among personal communication services users, 50 percent said they would give up their home phone first.
The study, “Wireless Phone Owner Profile,” showed that while most wireless phone users were most interested in voice communications, 38 percent expressed an interest in a wireless phone with the ability to view e-mail messages, a percentage that jumped to 50 percent among 18- to 34-year-olds.
