ATLANTA-BellSouth Corp. reported revenues for the first quarter ended March 31 of $6.5 billion, an 8.6-percent increase from 1999’s first-quarter revenues of $5.97 billion.
The company recorded net income of $1 billion, or 53 cents per share, compared with net income of $615 million, or 32 cents per share, for the same quarter the previous year.
During the quarter, BellSouth said its domestic wireless business added an average of 100,000 customers per month. Proportionate wireless revenues were $792 million, compared with $688 million for first-quarter 1999, and average revenue per subscriber was $53.
