WASHINGTON-The Strategis Group is predicting a big year for fixed wireless broadband followed by continued strong growth in the near future.
The group noted in a recent study, “World Wireless Broadband: LMDS, MMDS, and Broadband WLL,” that revenues from wireless broadband are projected to reach $16.3 billion by 2004, a compound annual growth rate of 140 percent from 1999 revenues.
“This year, everything seems to be finally coming together for fixed wireless broadband,” said James Mendelson, an analyst for The Strategis Group and lead author of the study. “There’s more frequency spectrum available, the equipment seems ready, and carriers both big and small are deploying systems in numerous markets. With these three elements converging, the global market is poised for tremendous growth, for both carriers and vendors, in the next couple of years.”
